Mediclai For Bank Staff ?

Bank Unions from the forum of United Forum Of Bank Unions (UFBU) has asked for 100 per cent reimbursement of Hospitalisation expenses during their talk with Indian Bank's Association (IBA) on 26th September 2014. On this issue IBA has suggested for introduction of Medicliam policy plan . Bank staff will be great looser if they accept the IBA's suggestion of mediclaim replacing Hospitalisation Reimbursement Scheme of the bank.

It is well known that majority of Hospitals who have got tie up with Medicliam are indulged in dangerous fraudulent activities. These hospitals have settings with Doctors specially Surgeons who inflate charges of all fees , operation charges, nurses fees, medicine charges and other services . Not only cost of all pathological tests   goes up if the patient is covered under mediclaim policy but all fees and charges also move up drastically . Not only this even unwarranted tests are prescribed and even unwarranted operations are carried out. There may not be serious problems in Heart , but doctors prescribe Angioplasty of introduction of Stubs in Heart and charge lacs of rupees for such dare devil operation.

It is proper to mention here that Doctors are not allowed to sit or work for hospitals in such hospitals if they do not help in artificially and fraudulently raising business of hospitals. There is dangerous nexus among pathological test laboratories, doctors , tie up agencies like Mediclaim and owners of Hospitals and Nursing Homes. Sales persons from manufacturers of various medicines, drugs and other medical equipment play a vital role in promoting this loot culture in medical care centres. There is no doubt in it. Everyone who has got opportunity to use the services of hospitals and specially tie-up hospitals has tested the brutal behaviour of hospital staffs , doctors and managers. All costly medicine are prescribed by Doctors to loot the patients from all sides.

As soon as receptionists comes to know that the patient is tie up with some government departments or mediclaim and that the patient will get reimbursement of all expenses, they will start looting  the patient and exploit the caretakers of patients as much as possible to fill the pocket of Doctors, test lab owners, managers and staff of hospital promoters. 'Marta Kya Nahi Karta'. Patients and poor caretakers who have got no alternative and no other options  usually and normally  surrender before doctors and pray Almighty God to save him from clutches of these monstrous Doctors.

I request officers who do not believe in above mentioned bitter truth ,should match Satyamev Jayate Episode produced by famous Actor Amir Khan or personally visit big hospitals and meet patients and caretakers of patients to know the truth from own eyes and ears.  Media men from time to time have also enlightened on this issue how patients are cheated in big hospitals. There may be some exceptional good doctors and good hospitals, but the trend and general culture and practices in hospitals is very much disheartening and alarming for patients.

I therefore of the view that UFBU must refrain from Medicliam policy if it is suggested by IBA. Even I would like to request Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi to look into this matter and try to save Indians from the clutches of Doctors, Hospitals, Medicine manufacturers, Test Lab owners who are exploiting and cheating poor patients . Many patients die without treatment only because they cannot afford costly treatment at these famous hospitals. They may go to Government Hospitals also. But the position at Government hospitals is much more pathetic and alarming. Majority of government hospitals are used only for Post Mortem , accidental cases and when the poor patients decide to accept God Gifted Death. You will not find good doctors, good labs, good testing facilities, adequate and hygienic atmosphere ,cleanliness and adequate staff in such hospitals, Corruption in these hospital is much more deep rooted, devilous and disastrous .Only God Save patients .

Lastly I should mention here that hundreds of agents are working in the market who offer costly gifts to Heads of Banks and other PSUs and who use to motivate senior officials of banks and hospitals by gifting them to accept tie up with hospitals and to sell the Mediclaim policies. Huge commissions are offered to agents who sell Mediclaim policies. UFBU should keep this dirty game in mind and save themselves from the temptations given to them by such dirty players working on behalf of Insurance agencies , hospitals and pathological labs.

Talks on wage revision break down; bank unions plan national strike-Hindu Business Line -------30th September 2014

Kochi, September 29:

Following the breakdown of its negotiations with the Indian Banks Association (IBA) for a wage revision agreement, the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has decided to go on a one-day all-India strike later next month.

Employees will wear black badges on October 10 and country-wide protest demonstrations will be conducted on October 17. A one-day dharna will be held at all State capitals between October 18 and 31. This would be followed by a one-day, country-wide protest strike, date for which is yet to be decided.

The decision to resort to further agitations to press the IBA to agree to a more liberal wage offer was taken by the UFBU leadership after the failure of the September 26 talks. The UBFU has been demanding a 25 per cent revision in pay slip components, but the IBA offered 11 per cent.

Union leaders told BusinessLine that while the IBA negotiators were flexible on certain issues, they were adamant that the wage increase could not go beyond the already offered 11 per cent in monthly salaries. The unions were ready to scale down their demand, but the banks’ management was totally inflexible, they alleged.

Wage agreement
At the negotiations, the IBA wage negotiation team was led by Central Bank of India Chairman and Managing Director Rajeev Rishi. The talks on a five-year wage agreement in the banking sector have been going on for more than a year.

UFBU leaders said that at the latest round of talks, the demand for 100 per cent reimbursement of hospitalisation expenses of the bank staff and their families was raised. The IBA agreed to the unions’ demand that employees will be covered by the Mediclaim scheme, but they had to submit their claims to the banks and that the reimbursement will be made by the banks with the improved benefits of the new insurance scheme. A final medical reimbursement plan will be worked out based on the consensus. ( See My Views above)

The IBA is willing to consider the demand for 100 per cent DA on pension for pre-November 2002 retirees. The IBA will also consider a reasonable proposition on updating pension. It will look into the demand for a five-day week if UFBU submitted a new set of proposals. On the issue of regulated working hours for officers, the IBA agreed to study the new proposal submitted by the unions.

The IBA’s suggestion of implementing the CTC (cost-to-company) principle was rejected by the unions. The suggestion of limiting the wage talks up to Scale-III officers instead of up to Scale-VII was also rejected.

Why Mediclaim Policy is required for Bankers?. A banker is a common man.

The ultimate sufferer in this is the common man, the poor medical insurance policy holder.

    The article says-

Those who considered cashless health insurance policies as a lifeline so far, here is a piece of bad news: many insurance companies have stopped direct payment of treatment charges to 150-odd high-end hospitals in New Delhi and surrounding areas from July 1. The virus is said to be growing all over the country now.

One can no longer get these facilities at high-end hospitals in the National Capital Region, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai.

Four state-run insurance companies managed by General Insurance Public Sector Association -- United India, New India, Oriental Insurance and National Insurance -- have taken the decision to stop cashless transactions at some hospitals.

Reason? The insurers claim that several hospitals are making fake claims, by showing higher-than-normal charges and thereby cheating the insurance companies. These insurers claim that they collected Rs 900 crore (Rs 9 billion) towards medical insurance premium and had to shell out Rs 1,200 crore (Rs 12 billion) towards claim settlement, in the Mumbai region alone. They attributed these losses to false claims and inflated bills.

The accusation has understandably enraged the hospitals. Many hospitals have thus begun to reject cashless policies following the insurers' stance. The ultimate sufferer in this is the common man, the poor medical insurance policy holder.

This indicates that one would have to bear the expenses from one's pocket if one is taking treatment from one of these hospitals.

This step by the insurance companies has invited a lot of criticism across the nation.

Medical insurance in India is not that expensive, with Rs 200,000-health cover for a 30-year-old costing under Rs 2,500 per annum in some cases.

What will be the impact of this step taken by the insurance companies? What does the aam aadmi feel about this?
