Opponents Of GST

Opponents like Congress party, Trinamool Congress, RJD , Aam Admi Party are opposing for the sake of opposition. Anti-nationals are adding fuel to fire. They do not have any ideology behind their boycott of mid-night function held for introduction of GST .

In fact,  GST has nothing as such which can be opposed by any party. GST has rather subsumed many indirect taxes of last regime and unified them into one National tax applicable for entire India.GST will help in increasing ease of doing business.

And morality also says that no party has moral right to oppose it now when all clauses and  rules under GST has been passed after prolonged discussion among GST members who come from every state.

I simply ask a question to GST protestors what is good in VAT or in service tax that they want to maintain status quo. They used to talk against multiple taxation earlier and now they are critical of GST too. It is because they want Modi and BJP to go out of power and in turn they aspire to come in power. They are wondering in dreamland now . They looted country for decades. Congress party remained silent spectator of cascading effects of previous tax system.

Every change faces resistance in the beginning but later it is accepted. Computerisation in banks faced stiff resistance for many years. But now those leaders who were protesting introduction of computers in banks a few years ago are now demanding more and more computers. Similarly GST will be accepted and appreciated in coming days.

Rahul Gandhi or Mamta or Lalu like politicians have got no mind. Rahul Gandhi  says that BJP has taken decision on GST in haste. These politicians should know that idea of GST came in the yearc1999 and during last 18 years more than enough discussions and debates have taken place. And particularly Modi government during last three years given maximum time on arriving at consensus. BJP unlike Congress party cannot keep any issue pending unresolved for six or seven decades . It took only 3 years to Constituent Assembly in construction of Constitution of India.

Congress party passed Right of Education but did nothing during their 10 year long  tenure to give fruits of this right to common men in true sense. This party could not make even MANREGA a real success.

Similarly they did nothing on Food security bill which they  passed it in during last days of their rule. They did nothing to arrive at consensus on GST during other 10 years of rule . They are now rather feeling ashamed that BJP has got success in creating consensus in three years only.

Lastly ,it is a undeniable truth that no law framed in any country is perfect and hence it is natural that laws are amended from time to time. Similarly rules related to GST will also be amended as per need arising out in future.

Let us have positive attitude. India will be winner and become number one. GST will definitely be booster of our prosperity and help in increasing revenue of not only government but slso give relief to traders, manufacturers and consumers in the long run.

GST will in my view,  produce desired success undoubtedly in due course of time. Evils of past system will get reduced drastically but gradually.

So far as opponents are concerned, they are habitually doing so from the day BJP led NDA government came to power. Some people had opposed even freedom fight against British rule and some are taking of liberation of Kashmir too.

Some people approach Pakistan for elimination of Modi and some wrote to USA to deny visa. These leaders are least interested in welfare of people if India. They want power by hook or by crook.

There is little doubt in it that GST is really a Good and Simplified Tax.

GST is very simple to understand unlike previous tax system when same goods and services were taxed with multiple number of taxes and with cascading effect .in the past business men had to get registration for VAT, service tax, excuse duty and many others .Now they have to get registration for only one tax.

Business men will feel relief and ease in doing business.Consumers will clearly know the amount of tax recovered. And people who are crying that GST is too much complicated to understand did know nothing about what was VAT,or Service Tax or Excise duty or cesses of various nature too.

So far as uneducated class of business men are concerned they will take the help of CA or experts as they used to take in earlier system of VAT or service tax or Excise duty.

Why BJP opposed GST during UPA government

Many people are questioning why BJP oppose GST  in the beginning.

BJP had certain issues which the then ruling party could not resolve or did not want to do so with malicious intentions of putting  blame on BJP for failure of GST

But BJP while in power took into consideration all points raised by opponents and came to an amicable solution and got success in implementing GST.

In a class, a teacher explains a chapter, some students remain busy in ridiculing teacher, some are engaged in disturbing class, some are engaged in other family issues while some others focus on main subject, understand it and conceptualise it too. Some of them give some innovative and new ideas too. It depends on ability, capacity, potential, intention and focus point of the students attending the class..

Critics are always busy in searching loopholes only whereas a man with positive attitude like Mr Narendra Modi and a party like BJP under leadership of intelligent Modi get success in resolving all issues and alsoo in giving a new direction and acceptable value addition to all unfinished task and policies said to be initiated by Congress party in the past.

Try to understand honestly the difference. It is easy to point out fallacies of others but difficult to perform a task with least opposition. It is true that GST will create some inconvenience to traders in initial few days but in the long run they will appreciate the merits of GST.

None of tax and tax laws are praised and glorified by any consumer or business men . Because people in general do not want to pay even 1 percent tax. They want all facilities of world class quality but do not want to contribute to make this task a success.

Rules related to VAT, MODVAT or Service Tax or Excise Duty or even Income Tax have always remained complicated  and tax experts play the role to facilitate compliance of tax rules. In this respect too, GST will make the entire process easier.

Government of India has appointed several facilitators to help traders in understanding and complying GST rules. There is 24x7 help center active to respond to various queries raised by people. All leading newspapers and TV channels are giving coverage to the subject and to remove all confusions on GST.

Why Congress party failed in 10 years to implement GST and BJP could Do in 10 months is explained below in brief. ( Collected from Facebook)

Difference between UPA GST and NDA  GST

Why BJP / Modi ji opposed GST in UPA regime?

Till the last discussion of GST under UPA in November 2013, the states had some major demands:

1. Keeping Petroleum out of GST ambit
2. Keeping Alcohol out of GST ambit
3. Keeping Entry Tax out of GST ambit
4. Some sort of guarantee from Centre for potential revenue loss

The rationale behind these demands is quite understandable. GST wipes out most state-level indirect taxes, thus taking out one of the major source of revenues for states. It is like a parent tells a child to stop earning from today, and instead promises him a sum of pocket-money. To have at least some financial independence in their hands, States asked for items like petroleum and alcohol (which have huge sales) to be kept out of GST, and also a guarantee from the Centre to offset their losses.

As explained by Congress Spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi in her tweet,Chidambaram the then Finance Minister never considered the states demands.

He even openly rejected the 1%
additional levy (which was mooted as a compensation to producer states). This obstinate stand of the UPA was the reason why although it had 10 years, it could never build consensus on GST.

How did the new NDA Government achieve consensus in less than 10 months, when UPA couldnt do it in 10 years? They agreed to the demands of the states. Out of the above 4 demands, 3 were accepted, and a bonus benefit was passed on to the state:

1. Petroleum was kept out of GST
2. Alcohol was kept out of GST
3. A proposal was sent to law ministry to work out a “Constitutional Guarantee” to compensate states
4. And the Bonus: The power to states of levying additional 1% tax levy, for maximum 2 years, to help augment state revenues

This is why BJP states, which were opposing the old GST bill, along with non-BJP states, are now agreeing to the NDA’s GST bill, because their concerns have been addressed.
